Intro to my new Series

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

All of you guys know that I LOVE to read. So I decided to start a series called “Interviews with the Authors.” I have to thank M.Z. Andrews and Cindy Callaghan for letting me feature them in my intro, and later on too. This is just an intro to show you the kind of thing I will be doing.

1. What is your advice for new writers?
New writers often hesitate to get their great ideas on to the page. Here is my advice: “If you don’t write it, it will never get written.” And here is the second piece of advice: “Things rarely get written without sitting in a chair. So, sit down!” -Cindy

Tips for new authors… I’d say read A LOT, write A LOT, think up interesting characters and put them in crazy situations and see what happens next. -M.Z.

2. When and how did you become a writer?
I’ve been writing forever. In third grade I wrote my first play. I was always into short stories, scenes and characters, and of course, lots of melodramatic poetry. Then, I put creative writing aside for college, grad school, early career days of clawing my way to
the glass ceiling, and starting a family. About twelve years ago I saw an ad for a writing class. It was always something that I wanted to get back into, so I took it, and the rest is history. That catapulted me into my first novel, a fabulous suspense thriller for adults, which I continue to work on to this day. The class became a critique group and one novel became another and another, and finally to KELLY QUINN’S SECRET COOKING CLUB, which is the original title for JUST ADD MAGIC. -Cindy

I’ve been writing since I was a very small girl. My mom used to type up my stories because I wanted to be a writer before I could even write. I was a non-stop reader in elementary school and high school, which helped with my writing a lot. I wrote a few books when I was still in school, and during college, but I didn’t publish anything until recently -M.Z.

I will have my first interview out soon!
